Forgejo Services is a young project. Our website is new, our customer base is still growing, and we’re only just beginning our journey.
But appearances can be deceiving.
Forgejo Services is part of Coderial, a company founded by professionals who have spent decades working with Linux, open source software, software development, infrastructure, and DevOps. While the Forgejo Services brand itself may be young, the experience behind it certainly is not.
Combined, we bring more than 40 years of practical experience to the table.
That experience recently helped us complete our first customer migration from GitLab to Forgejo.
A Real-World Migration
The migration involved 43 repositories, including a substantial collection of CI/CD workflows that had evolved over many years.
As with any migration project, careful preparation was required. Source code repositories are only part of the story. Development teams depend on build pipelines, automated testing, deployment processes, and integrations that have become critical to their daily work.
Fortunately, the migration went remarkably smoothly.
The repositories were transferred successfully, and the CI/CD workflows were adapted and migrated with far less effort than many people would expect.
Confidence Through Experience
Every migration teaches us something.
In this case, the project reinforced our confidence in Forgejo as a mature and capable software development platform. The migration process was straightforward, the platform behaved predictably, and the resulting environment provided everything the customer needed to continue development without disruption.
